Oil Springs is a small unincorporated community in the eastern part of Johnson County, Kentucky, United States. The community is known for its history of oil production. In the late 1800s, Oil Springs was one of the leading oil-producing regions in the world, helping to fuel the Industrial Revolution. Today, the area still produces oil, although on a much smaller scale. The community is home to a small museum that highlights the history of the oil industry in the region. Another notable feature of Oil Springs is the Oil Springs Christian Church, which was established in the early 1900s and is still an active congregation today. Oil Springs also has a volunteer fire department, elementary school, and several businesses that serve the local community.
